India reported 9,851 cases of coronavirus and 273 deaths in the last 24 hours

London : India reported 9,851 cases of coronavirus and 273 deaths in the last 24 hours, the most in one-day, government data shows.

The total cases in the country has climbed to 2,26,770. So far 1,09,462 people have recovered and 6,348 have died, while the recovery rate or the chances of people getting better is 48.27 per cent.

India is now the seventh worst-hit nation after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy, NDTV writes.

In terms of fatalities, India is ranked 12th at present, while it is placed at eighth place in terms of recoveries. However, India figures among the top-five countries in terms of active cases.

India is gradually unlocking its economy after a shutdown that lasted more than two months. But it’s unlikely to be business as usual for millions of retailers, small enterprises and factories, writes the BBC’s Nikhil Inamdar.
