Bangladesh records 11,291 new COVID-19 cases

Dhaka — Bangladesh reported 11,291 new COVID-19 cases and 228 new deaths on Sunday, making the tally at 1,164,635 and death toll at 19,274, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 37,587 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Sunday across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 998,923 including 10,584 new recoveries Sunday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.65 percent and the current recovery rate is 85.77 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily cases of 13,768 on July 12 and the highest number of daily deaths of 231 on July 19. (Xinhua)
