Pakistan to Host 14th South Asian Games in January 2026

Pakistan will host the 14th South Asian Games in January 2026, following a key decision at the Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPC) meeting on June 2. The Punjab government has committed to organising the prestigious multi-sport event, which will feature competitions in 27 disciplines.
Lahore will serve as the primary host city, with events including cricket, hockey, swimming, boxing, and kabaddi, among others. The Pakistan Sports Board confirmed the wide-ranging sports lineup, reflecting the event’s diverse appeal across South Asia.
The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) presented its recommendations during the IPC meeting, prompting the formation of a high-level committee. This body, comprising representatives from all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, is tasked with preparing a comprehensive report within two weeks. The report will address budgeting, security, and venue logistics.
Officials stressed the government’s commitment to delivering a world-class event, with a focus on smooth operations and international standards. The games are expected to enhance Pakistan’s global image and showcase its capacity to host major sporting events.
Collaboration between the Punjab government and Islamabad administration is underway to ensure the 2026 South Asian Games become a landmark occasion in the region’s sporting history.
