Nepali Cricket Team Arrives in London Ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 in Scotland

London, May 13 — The Nepali national cricket team is set to arrive in London on Thursday morning as they gear up for the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 tournament, scheduled to be held in Scotland. The team’s arrival marks the beginning of a crucial international campaign that includes both One Day Internationals and T20 matches against top-tier associate nations.

Led by captain Rohit Paudel and vice-captain Deependra Singh Airi, the 15-member squad includes key players such as wicketkeeper Asif Sekh, Kushal Bhurtel, Anil Shah, Arif Sekh, Bhim Sarki, Basir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Narayan Rajvanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Kisi, and Rijan Dhakal.

To support the team’s preparations and foster community engagement, a special charity dinner will be held in London on Saturday, May 17. The event aims to rally support from the Nepali diaspora and cricket enthusiasts in the UK , organiser of the event and director of Maya Events, Mr. Raj Pandey stated.

During their stay in England, the team plans to participate in practice sessions, training programs, and friendly matches with local cricket clubs, including the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). These sessions are expected to provide valuable match practice and acclimatization ahead of the competitive fixtures in Scotland.

Once in Scotland, Nepal will engage in two warm-up matches against the Scotland A team before the official League-2 matches commence. The tournament will feature a triangular series involving Nepal, Scotland, and the Netherlands, with a total of six matches scheduled.

Following the League-2 fixtures, the teams will also compete in a T20 series, beginning on Asar 2nd (mid-June), further intensifying the cricketing action.

The ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 serves as a critical pathway for qualification to the ICC Cricket World Cup, and Nepal’s performance in this series will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
