Imran Khan’s Sons Appeal to Trump, Global Leaders for Father’s Release

DUBAI – In their first public interview, the sons of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump and the international community to help secure their father’s release from prison. Speaking to citizen journalist Mario Nawfal, Kasim (26) and Sulaiman Khan (28) urged global leaders to defend democracy and free speech.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, facing multiple legal cases, including a £190 million corruption conviction and several charges under Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act. His sons described limited contact with their father and harsh prison conditions. “Anyone who looks into it can see how political the charges are,” said Sulaiman.
They specifically called on Trump, saying, “Any government that supports free speech and democracy should join the call for our father’s release.”
The interview has gone viral on social media, with the brothers also appealing to “people of influence” worldwide. They confirmed they had their father’s permission to speak and insisted they have no political ambitions.
Tensions remain high in Pakistan following disputed 2024 elections, which Khan’s party, PTI, claims were rigged. Authorities blame PTI for past violence, which the party denies, calling it a targeted campaign to suppress opposition.
